About Us

Per Ankh: Empowering Scientific Research

Our dream to revive science excellence in the region began in 2008. Back then, we wondered as fresh graduates, in Egypt, what we can do to contribute to the development of the science landscape. We then embarked on a journey of science activities and established partnerships with national and international institutes. This journey culminated in the sculpturing Per-Ankh Foundation for Science & Technology as a science foundation built on Egyptian soil aiming to enlighten human knowledge.

In Heiroglyphics, the sign Per (depicted as an incomplete rectangular shape) used to refer to a house. Hence, the word “Per-3a” , from which the word Pharaoh originated, means the big house. Ankh is the key of life. Together the word reads Per-’Ankh. Egyptians considered the library or a temple, places where nature is studied and science is taught, as the house of life, “Per-Ankh”. Our conceptual design of our logo brings back ancient Egyptian philosophy to the modern era to celebrate our lives studying nature to know more about our planet and ourselves.

Our Vision

Inspired by Egypt’s historical role as a beacon of enlightenment, the Per-Ankh Foundation for Science & Philosophy intertwines ingenuity, philosophy, and science in its DNA. We aspire to revive what once was the lighthouse of knowledge, the ancient library of Alexandria, through a modern lens to revolutionise science pursuit worldwide. We aim to become one of the world’s knowledge powerhouses that serve humanity and address challenges facing our planet. Our long and best investment is to offer a better future for the next generations.

Our Mission

Our mission is advancing scientific research in Egypt, the Arab world, Africa, and developing countries. This will be achieved through building on and improving the foundational capacities addressing pressing challenges by focusing on innovative research, scientific literacy, and advocating a knowledge based economy.

The Per-Ankh Foundation for Science & Philosophy leverages the intellectual critical mass of the region that has been shaped through centuries to accelerate innovations in deeptech, draft policies concerned with current and future challenges, and empower researchers through partnerships and capacity building initiatives.

B- We focus on democratizing science and easing financial barriers. To develop financial resources, we primarily rely on membership and activity fees generated by the BioKMT Society.
